Human activities have negative effects on plant and animal species. Some people think it is too late to do anything about this problem. Others believe effective measures can be taken to improve this situation.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

 

范文：

Ever since the urbanization process began, human have been constantly invading other species’ territories. This invasion certainly has led to some negative outcomes. For example, more and more plant and animal species have become endangered ones. Even though some animals are not classified as endangered yet, their behavior patterns have changed as a result of human activities. This change, in turn, may affect their survival in the long run.  

 

Some people believe that nothing can be done to undo this harm. This passive point of view is quite popular among pessimists. Pessimistic people are those who do not have faith in human endeavors. To them, trying is wasting. What they might say to defend their statement is that what’s done is done. They might even say that extinct species cannot be revived no matter what we do now. However, what humans trying to do is not about reviving dead ones but stopping the situation from getting worse.  

 

I am one of those people who believe that if effective measures are taken, our environment will be changed for the better. People say that the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second-best time is today. The same thing holds true for improving our ecosystem. 20 years ago, we were ignorant and reckless when we tried so hard to improve human’s living standard in the cost of our environment. However, as time has changed, now humans are more powerful than ever before. We have advanced technologies that can help with every aspect of human life. We can direct that technology to help animals and plants in order to improve their living standards. By taking multiple measures at the same time, we can also reverse the declining trend of the health of our ecosystem.

 

To sum up, even though there are people who feel pessimistic about human efforts on improving our environment, I definitely maintain that governments and individuals can do several things to stop human activity that has damaging effects on our planet.
