雅思写作备考——如何描述和比较数字

在雅思的写作部分IELTS Academic writing Task 1中，会考察学生根据题目给出的条形图、饼图、折线图等来描述和比较数字的能力。如何语言丰富的描述数据对考生来说至关重要。今天就来为大家提供几个小技巧，一起来看看吧~~
 
一、数据的表达
The chart below shows the number of male and female students studying three subjects（Linguistics,Philosophy,English Language and Literature) at the university of Cambridge in 2001.
 
2001年剑桥大学有50名男学生学习哲学。我们可以怎么表达呢？
1.there be 句型
There were 50 male students studying philosophy at the University of Cambridge in 2001.
2.用the number of 作主语，谓语动词用stood at，totaled，amounted to或者直接用was
The number of male students studying philosophy at the University of Cambridge in 2001 stood at 50 /totaled 50/amounted to 50 /was 50. 
3.用人做主语，谓语动词用number做动词形式
Male students studying philosophy at the University of Cambridge in 2001 numbered 50.
4.主语用the figure for，谓语动词用amounted to/totaled
The figure for male students studying philosophy at the University of Cambridge in 2001.
 
二、数据之间的比较
学习哲学的男生约为50，女生约为150。/女生数量是男生的三倍，或者男生数量是女生的三分之一。
The number of female students was three times as high as that of male students. / The figure for male students was one third that for female students.
 
the graph is describing how many people take a taxi versus public transport。即乘坐出租车的人和乘坐公共交通工具的人之间的比较。
1、More people preferred public transport than taxis.
2、A higher number/proportion of people preferred public transport than taxis.
3、Taxis were more popular than public public transport.
4、The proportion of people taking public transport exceeds those taking taxis.
5、The number of people taking public transport is higher than those taking taxis. 
6、People taking public transport outnumbers those those taking taxis.  
 
 
以Snickers和Mars为例。从图中可知，Snickers卖出2000万，Mars 售出1000万。所以基本表达方式为：
Snickers sold twice as many chocolate bars as Mars.
Snicker的销量是Mars的两倍。
 
再看其他的表达方式：
1. Snickers sold two times as many chocolate bars as Mars.
2. Snickers sold double the number of chocolate bars in comparison to Mars.
3. Snickers sold double the number of chocolate bars as Mars.
4. Snickers sold double the number of chocolate bars as compared to Mars.
5. Snickers sold more chocolate bars than Mars by a ratio of two to one.
6. The number of chocolate bars Snickers sold outnumbered the total amount of chocolate bars Mars sold by the ratio of two to one.
7. Snickers outsold Mars by the ratio of two to one.
