状语从句

状语从句可表示时间、原因、条件、让步、地点、目的和结果等意义。

由不同的从属连词或词组引出，如when、because、if、although、where、not…until、in order that…、so…that…等。

容易用错的几个词：thus、hence、therefore是副词，不是连词，不可以直接连接两个句子。

示例1：父母非常重视给孩子取名，因为名字往往会伴随孩子一生。

确定主从句：

主句：父母非常重视给孩子取名

从句：因为名字往往会伴随孩子一生

译文：Parents pay great attention to naming their children，because/since a name will accompany a person for the whole life.

示例2：他们也用手机购物、查找信息，因为手机便于携带。

确定主从句：

主句：他们也用手机购物、查找信息

从句：因为手机便于携带

译文1：They also use cell phones to shop and look up information，because cell phones are easy to carry.

译文2：They also shop and search information on cell phones，because cell phones are portable.

示例3：由于现在用手机付款很容易，许多消费者在购物时宁愿用手机付款，而不愿用现金或信用卡。

确定主从句：

主句：许多消费者在购物时宁愿用手机付款，而不愿用现金或信用卡

从句：由于现在用手机付款很容易

译文1：Since，it is so easy to pay by cell phones now，many consumers would rather pay by cell phones than by cash or credit cards when shopping.

译文2：Since it is so easy to pay by cell phones now，many consumers would pay by cell phones rather than by cash or credit cards when shopping.

译文3：Since it is so easy to pay by cell phones now，many consumers prefer cell phones to cash or credit cards when paying.

示例4：一些年轻人已经变得十分上瘾，以至于忽视了与家人额朋友面对面的交流。

译文：Some young people have become so addicted（to cellphones） that they neglect face-to-face communication with their family and friends.

示例5：中国父母往往过于关注孩子的学习，以至于不要他们帮忙做家务。

确定主从句：

主句：中国父母往往过于关注孩子的学习

从句：以至于不要他们帮忙做家务

译文：Chinese parents usually pay too much attention to their children’s study，so that they don’t require their children to help them do any housework.

示例6：假如他们没有在这个关键时期培养阅读的兴趣，以后要养成阅读的习惯就很难了。

确定主从句：

主句：以后要养成阅读的习惯就很难了

从句：假如他们没有在这个关键时期培养阅读的兴趣

译文1：If they didn’t foster the interest of reading at that critical period，it would be quite difficult to cultivate the habit of reading later.

译文2：If the interest of reading was not fostered at that critical period，it would be quite difficult to cultivate the habit of reading later.

示例7：如果还在能在社会上取得巨大的成就，父母就会受到尊敬。

译文：Parents will receive respect if their children can achieve great success in the society.
