SAT/ACT考试中考察的“逗号”使用

SAT考试和ACT考试中对于英语语法的考察有一定的重合度，下面对应知识点用的例子是ACT English 部分的题目，关于逗号的考查本身是比较务实的，因为实际写作的时候我们用的主要的符号就是逗号和句号。

在考题里面涉及逗号的部分主要的考点是“不用逗号“的情况

考点1：主语和谓语之间不要加逗号

✗ The gray cat, is irritable around new people.

✓  The gray cat is irritable around new people.

考点2：形容词和被修饰名词之间不要加逗号

✗ The gray, cat is irritable around new people.

✓ The gray cat is irritable around new people.

key B (however 是插入语，所以前后都是逗号，Italian artist 是对于 Leonardo 的修饰，所以不用逗号)

考点3：并列句间的逗号要求

如果两个句子主语一致，不用逗号；

如果两个句子主语不一致，要加逗号

e.g. I want to buy organic food, but it is too expensive.

key A （ and 前后两个句子主语不一致。所以and 前面要加逗号）

考点4 三者并列的逗号要求

 A, B, and C.

e.g. I like biking, skiing, and playing basketball.

要注意的是如果是两者（比如 A and B ）不用逗号

考点5：用两个逗号引入插入语的情况

✗ The Russian blue cat, which is hypoallergenic does not trigger my allergies.

✓ The Russian blue cat, which is hypoallergenic, does not trigger my allergies.

一个插入语的特例是，插入一个解释词：可能是两个形容词（用插入的形容词去解释前面的词）

✗ Alpha, or dominant wolves assert their dominance by standing tall rather than lowering their bodies as submissive wolves do.

✗ Alpha, or dominant wolves, assert their dominance by standing tall rather than lowering their bodies as submissive wolves do.

✓ Alpha, or dominant, wolves assert their dominance by standing tall rather than lowering their bodies as submissive wolves do.

更为常见的插入语作为解释词的方式是同位语的情况，同样要加两个逗号

Diwali, one of several Hindu festivals, is celebrated through gift giving, fireworks, and lighting lamps.

介词结构作为插入语的情况

e.g. Electus parrots, in both sexes, are brilliantly colorful.
